Most people visit a doctor when something has already gone wrong. But by the time a chronic condition appears on a standard lab report, the underlying dysfunction has often been building for years.
At The Wellness Firm, we take a fundamentally different approach: using advanced diagnostics and personalized intervention to identify risk factors, correct imbalances, and protect your long-term health before symptoms ever begin.
Preventative medicine is for you if:
You feel reasonably healthy but want to stay that way and get ahead of what's coming
You have a family history of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or autoimmune conditions
Your annual physical comes back "normal" but you suspect there's more to the picture
You're in your 30s, 40s, or 50s and starting to notice subtle shifts in energy, weight, or mental sharpness
You've been told you're "borderline" on cholesterol, blood sugar, or blood pressure
You carry chronic stress, poor sleep, or a demanding lifestyle and want to know the real impact on your body
You want data, not guesswork, to guide your health decisions
If this resonates, a comprehensive preventative medicine evaluation at The Wellness Firm can give you the clearest picture of where you stand and a concrete roadmap to protect what matters most.

Preventative medicine is the practice of identifying and correcting the conditions that cause disease, before disease occurs.
Where conventional medicine excels at diagnosing and treating illness once it is present, preventative medicine uses advanced diagnostics to detect dysfunction in its earliest, most reversible stages.
Rather than waiting for a heart attack to address cardiovascular risk, or a diabetes diagnosis to address insulin resistance, we intervene upstream, at the level of biomarkers, metabolic function, inflammation, and lifestyle.
Preventative care goes several layers deeper than a standard annual physical. We look at how your specific biology, genetics, gut health, hormones, and environment are interacting and where those interactions are creating conditions ripe for chronic disease.
The result is a personalized prevention plan built around your unique risk profile, not a generic checklist.
Six in ten Americans currently live with at least one chronic disease. Four in ten have two or more. These conditions, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and autoimmune disorders, account for over 75% of all U.S. healthcare spending and are the leading causes of death and disability in the country.
Yet the majority are preventable or significantly modifiable through early intervention. The average American over 65 now takes 27 prescriptions per year, a figure that reflects a healthcare system overwhelmingly oriented toward treatment rather than prevention. preventative medicine exists to change that equation.

Many of the most serious chronic diseases begin with subtle, easy-to-dismiss signals. These are the patterns we pay attention to at The Wellness Firm:
None of these symptoms is trivial. Each represents a signal from your body that something is shifting and each is far easier to address now than after it has progressed.

Standard lipid panels miss most of the picture. We assess advanced cardiovascular markers including particle size and number (LDL-P), lipoprotein(a), ApoB, homocysteine, hsCRP, and oxidized LDL. There are all markers that identify risk in patients whose total cholesterol looks perfectly normal.
Cardiovascular disease remains the number one cause of death in the U.S., and the majority of heart attacks occur in people with no prior warning. Our advanced panels find the warning signs that standard testing misses.
Type 2 diabetes develops over years through a predictable progression – insulin resistance, then prediabetes, then full diagnosis. By the time blood glucose becomes elevated, the underlying dysfunction has often been present for a decade.
We measure fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, hemoglobin A1c, and metabolic inflammatory markers early in that progression, when diet, nutraceuticals, and lifestyle intervention can fully reverse the trajectory – no medication required.
Hormonal imbalances rarely announce themselves as a single dramatic symptom. More often they present as fatigue, weight gain, mood changes, low libido, or brain fog, symptoms that are often dismissed as "stress" or "aging."
We conduct comprehensive hormone panels covering thyroid (including T3, T4, reverse T3, and antibodies), cortisol, reproductive hormones, and DHEA to identify subclinical dysfunction that conventional screens routinely miss.
Chronic low-grade inflammation is the common thread underlying heart disease, cancer, neurodegeneration, autoimmunity, and accelerated aging. Research shows that individuals with elevated inflammatory markers carry a biological age up to seven years older than their chronological age, yet most are never tested.
We use advanced inflammatory panels (hsCRP, IL-6, homocysteine, fibrinogen, and oxidative stress markers) to detect and address inflammaging before it drives disease.
Your microbiome is one of the earliest systems affected by diet, stress, medications, and environmental exposures and one of the most predictive of long-term health outcomes.
Dysbiosis precedes and contributes to immune dysregulation, hormonal imbalance, metabolic dysfunction, and neurological changes. We use comprehensive GI mapping to assess your microbiome health, identify pathogenic overgrowth or insufficiency, and intervene before these imbalances translate into chronic disease.
Cognitive decline and mood disorders have measurable biological precursors including nutritional deficiencies, inflammatory burden, hormonal shifts, toxic exposures, and mitochondrial dysfunction, that are identifiable years before symptoms progress.
We evaluate these upstream drivers and design prevention protocols targeting brain health: supporting neurotransmitter production, reducing neuroinflammation, optimizing sleep architecture, and protecting mitochondrial function.
Every preventative medicine program at The Wellness Firm begins with a thorough evaluation of your health history, risk factors, and goals, followed by targeted lab testing. Depending on your presentation, we may use:
Results are interpreted through functional ranges that are optimized for health, not just disease absence. These ranges identify subclinical patterns that conventional labs mark as "normal." Your prevention plan is built from this data, with clear priorities, measurable benchmarks, and regular reassessment.
Your preventative medicine journey begins with a Discovery Consultation, a thorough conversation about your health history, family risk, lifestyle, and goals. From there, we design a testing strategy matched to your specific risk profile.
Once results are in, we walk you through your findings in plain language and present a personalized prevention plan covering nutrition, nutraceuticals, lifestyle, and any targeted interventions indicated by your data.

Preventative medicine is low-risk by design. The most common experiences after a visit or lab panel are minor and self-limiting: brief soreness or bruising at a blood-draw site, occasional lightheadedness during or right after a blood draw, mild skin irritation from EKG leads or adhesive, and some normal anxiety while waiting for results. These typically resolve within a day or two without intervention.
Contact the clinic if a blood-draw site develops a bruise that keeps enlarging, becomes increasingly painful, or shows signs of infection like redness, warmth, or drainage, if a result we shared feels unclear and you want it reviewed, or if a new symptom emerges between visits that you would like assessed. Seek urgent care immediately for chest pain, trouble breathing, sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, a severe or sudden headache unlike any you have had before, fainting, or any symptom that feels life-threatening.
Some elements of our evaluation, including certain lab tests, may be covered through insurance, particularly those ordered through standard lab networks. We route as many tests as possible through insurance. Specialty functional labs and comprehensive panels are often out-of-pocket costs, which we discuss transparently during your consultation so there are no surprises.
This is the most common question we hear – and the most important one. Many serious chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers, develop silently for years before producing noticeable symptoms. "Feeling fine" is not the same as "optimally healthy." The goal of preventative medicine is to identify dysfunction in the window where it is fully reversible – before it stops feeling fine.
A standard annual physical uses population-level screening guidelines designed to catch disease after it has emerged. Our preventative evaluation uses a much broader and more sensitive set of biomarkers – including advanced cardiovascular markers, metabolic panels, inflammatory indices, and hormone profiles – interpreted through functional ranges optimized for health rather than disease absence. It is a fundamentally different level of analysis.
If our evaluation uncovers findings that warrant urgent attention or specialist referral, we communicate that clearly and immediately. Our role is to give you the most accurate, complete picture of your health – and to help you navigate what comes next. We coordinate with your existing care team and specialists as needed.
For most patients, a comprehensive reassessment every 6 to 12 months is appropriate – more frequently when we are actively correcting identified imbalances, less frequently once biomarkers have stabilized in optimal ranges. We design a follow-up schedule as part of your initial plan.
